Chief Larry Jamrozek serves as the MABAS-IL Operations Branch Chief – South Region. Among other duties and responsibilities, Chief Jamrozek is responsible for performing annual Staff Assistance Visits (SAV) with each southern region division.
Chief Jamrozek is a retired Fire Chief of the West Frankfort Fire Department in West Frankfort, Illinois. West Frankfurt is a combination fire department which serves 72 square miles and has a population of 15,000 residents. Chief Jamrozek was appointed Fire Chief in 1994, and resigned his position in January 2007 to accept the position of Operations Branch Chief – South Region with MABAS-IL. While Fire Chief he became involved in Division 45 activities and beginning in 2005, served as Division 45 Vice President.
Chief Jamrozek began his fire service career in 1971 as a full-time career firefighter with the Skokie Fire Department in Skokie, Illinois. Skokie is a northern Chicago suburb in Cook County and a MABAS Division 3 member. He progressed through the ranks and was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in 1990. During his tenure with the Village of Skokie, he responded to numerous MABAS extra alarm incidents throughout the northern Chicago suburbs; consequently, he developed a thorough knowledge of MABAS operations and incident functions.
Chief Jamrozek earned an Associates Degree in Fire Science from Rend Lake College. He has attained numerous Illinois State certifications including: Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Arson Investigator, and numerous Technical Rescue Team (TRT) and rescue certifications.
